Top 4 Blue Ridge Cycling Locales
One of the main reasons that our North Georgia cabin rentals are trendy among cyclists is that there is a seemingly endless network of Blue Ridge cycling destinations within a short ride from our accommodations. We’ve compiled four of our favorite Blue Ridge cycling trails to ensure that your North Georgia getaway is nothing short of flawless!
Tanasi Trails – With over 36 miles of singletrack just across the Tennessee border, the Tanasi Trails are widely considered the best Blue Ridge cycling destination in the region. This full-day loop starts and ends at Brush Creek. Most avid cyclists label this 36.5-mile expedition equally difficult and intermediate. You’ll peddle along tranquil lakes, dense forestry, and deserted bridges with ample opportunities for photos of the sprawling Blue Ridge Mountains.
Boardtown Road – One of the most popular ways to explore the mountainous gap between Blue Ridge and Ellijay is Boardtown Road, a 12.5-mile stretch of backcountry that meanders through the North Georgia mountains. You’ll peddle past old-world churches, thriving farms, babbling creeks, a fire station, and a cemetery. A decent chunk of this trip follows serene Boardtown Creek. Boardtown Road is the type of backcountry trek that leaf peepers dream about.
Pinhoti Trail System – The Pinhoti Trail System is split into three sections: one, two, and three. These three point-to-point singletrack trails provide travelers with some of the best mountainside Blue Ridge cycling as well as stunning overlooks on trail three. Trails one and two are popular sections on the aptly-named Brutal Loop, a 34.7-mile, arduous voyage.
Aska Trail System – The Aska Trail System spans 16 miles via seven interconnected trails, most of which are blue diamonds. Although the Flat Creek Loop is only 5.2 miles long, it’s widely considered the crowning jewel of this trail system. You’ll peddle through creek water after a surprisingly easy climb and an exhilarating two-mile, 800-foot descent in the valley of the dense forest.
